Jay Kim | Teaching
Jay serves The Vintage Community by working alongside Dan in teaching for our Sunday gatherings. Jay grew up all over the Bay Area, moving fourteen times between first grade and senior year of high school. After pursuing a business degree and working in banking for a number of years, he realized that he thoroughly disliked working with numbers and money. He then embarked on a remarkably mediocre music career, starting and playing in a series of inconsequential local bands.
Although Jay grew up going to church, he walked away from his faith during his early college years but the long journey from banking to music eventually led him back to some underlying questions of faith. He started meeting with a few friends on Monday nights to talk about God, faith, and church, and this reignited his theological imagination and, more importantly, his love for Jesus. This led him to Jessup University where he received his Bachelors in Biblical Theology and then Fuller Seminary where he received his Masters in Theology. Jay has served as youth pastor, college pastor, church planter, and teaching pastor in various churches since 2004.
A great day for Jay is extended time with his family - wife Jenny and their daughter Harper and son Simon. He loves great food and drink, tall buildings, art galleries, a good movie, live music or a Golden State Warriors game.
